SELIT is expanding its XPO range for DOMOTEX 2020

For more than a year now, SELIT Dämmtechnik GmbH has been producing high-performance underlays made of extruded polyolefin. It started with two products for wood flooring and laminate flooring to be laid in a floating installation at DOMOTEX 2019. In 2020, SELIT is following suit and adding not only another underlay for wood flooring/laminate but also two underlays for vinyl to its range.

In 2018, SELIT invested over 2.5 million euros in a state-of-the-art extrusion line for polyolefin foams. An investment that is paying off. Foams of this type impress with outstanding performance parameters in acoustics and load capacity. This is made possible by the optimal combination of density and thickness, which produces enormous pressure stability so that even relatively thin underlays can exploit the full range of services and effectively protect the floor. This makes them particularly suitable for use under thin and usually flexible vinyl floors. With thicknesses of 1 mm and 0.6 mm, two high-performance underlays have thus been added to the SELITBLOC brand range, expanding the portfolio of vinyl and design floor underlays to six products. In addition to their enormous load capacity, the XPO products impress with maximum walking sound insulation, making them indispensable when it comes to achieving pleasant room acoustics.

The fine, even foam structure of the polyolefin foams also allows for reliable punctual conformability. This is particularly important for thin vinyl floors, where the click connection often tends to break due to the low thickness. Only if the underlay reliably encloses the unevenness so that the floor is fully supported without hollow layers can this damage be prevented. Likewise, the risk of the telegraphing effect – the substrate showing through the floor – can be greatly reduced.

When it comes to polystyrene underlays, folding plates are the ultimate in easy installation. The key here is that they lie flat immediately and do not roll up again, as is usual with rolled goods. Thanks to their flexible material, SELITBLOC XPO products can also be easily processed as rolled goods. There is no curling effect and they lie flat immediately. And there is another advantage that will please processors: the underlays can be cut ‘like butter’ – even more precisely along the printed easy cut grid.

The SELITPRO XPO 1 mm AquaStop laminate underlay also impresses with an installation feature. It is supplied with an overlap and adhesive tape, which makes the necessary butt bonding easier.
